10 Questions to Ask Before Renting Portable Toilets in Malaysia

GuidesUpdated 2 November 20262 min read

Two portable toilet quotes can look similar and give very different results. The cheaper one may leave you with dirty units, no servicing and a surprise bill. Use these 10 questions to compare suppliers fairly, whether you are renting for a wedding, a festival or a construction site.

About the units

  • 1. What type of unit is this? Ask whether it is a standard, flush or VIP unit, and ask for a photo of the exact unit you will receive.
  • 2. How many units do I really need? A good supplier will ask about guests, hours or workers and recommend a number, not just sell you more.
  • 3. Are the units cleaned and sanitised before delivery? You should expect them to arrive clean and working.

About servicing and waste

  • 4. How often will units be serviced, and what is done at each visit? For long rentals this matters more than anything.
  • 5. Where does the waste go? It should be disposed of at a licensed facility. If the supplier cannot answer, be careful.
  • 6. Do you use your own vacuum tankers? A company with its own fleet controls the servicing and disposal, instead of depending on a third party.

About the price and the paperwork

  • 7. Does the price include delivery, installation, servicing and collection? Ask for this in writing so there are no add-ons later.
  • 8. What happens if I need to extend or cancel? Ask about extension rates and cancellation terms before you commit.
  • 9. Who do I call if there is a problem? You want a real contact, a WhatsApp number that gets answered and a clear time frame for fixing issues.
  • 10. How long have you been doing this? An experienced company is more likely to turn up on time and handle problems calmly. We have been in this business since 2010.

Red flags to watch for

  • A very low price with no mention of servicing.
  • No clear answer about where waste is disposed of.
  • No written quote, or a quote that does not say what is included.
  • Photos that are not of the actual units.
  • No way to reach someone once the units are delivered.
